recycLA
California lawmakers have passed a law designed to reduce greenhouse gases by diverting organic waste from landfills. Starting in December, NASA will provide the buildings with a green bin. Residents are encouraged to place food scraps and food-soiled paper in this bin. Food scraps include meats, dairy products (no liquids), fruits, vegetables, spoiled food, breads, leftovers, eggshells, nutshells, seafood, bones, coffee grounds, and tea bags. Food-soiled paper includes paper towels, napkins, non-shiny paper plates, paper cups, paper grocery bags with food scraps, greasy pizza boxes, and coffee filters. The green waste can be processed to create useful products such as compost, renewable electricity, and transportation fuel without releasing methane into the air.
November is GRATITUDE Month
November is National Gratitude Month. According to Harvard Health, gratitude is strongly associated with greater happiness. Every time one person thanks another, it is an opportunity to acknowledge them and help them feel appreciated. Some ways to consider,
- Make a phone call: We live in the age of texting and social media messaging which makes a phone call feel all the more special.
- Write a note: A handwritten, sincere “Thank you” note is all it takes to express gratitude.
- Give a compliment: Compliments help others shift their perspective to one of gratitude and can turn around someone’s day instantly.
WISHING YOU EVERY BLESSING OF THIS BOUNTIFUL SEASON!
