Winter Maintenance Tips:
Winter can be a beautiful season but can also bring harsh weather conditions that can impact the safety and upkeep of your unit. Taking the necessary steps to prepare your unit for the winter season is essential. Here are some maintenance and safety tasks to consider:
- Inspect windows and doors for gaps or cracks that could let in cold air. Adding weatherstripping to exterior doors and caulking windows are affordable but effective heat-saving measures.
- Have the heating system serviced and air filter replaced to ensure its efficient operation.
- If you have ceiling fans, be sure to switch the fan blades to run clockwise to push heated air down.
- Ensure that smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are in good working order.
- Keep space heaters away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended.
- Cover bare floors with decorative rugs to help retain heat and keep your feet warm.
