INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT MOTHER’S DAY:
- The moniker “Mom” comes from babies: the first thing most babies can vocalize is the “ma” sound, which is why in almost every language, the word for mother begins with the letter “M” or is some iteration of the “ma” sound.
- Mother’s Day is celebrated all over the world: while the celebrations may be held on different days internationally, Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Great Britain, Japan, Iran, Samoa, and Thailand all have designated celebrations to honor their country’s mothers. The most ineresting Mother’s Day has been referred to as the Yugoslavian celebration that has children tying up their mothers, and making her promise to give them sweets and other presents, for her release!
- Mother’s Day is for moms of every kind: from our birth moms to stepmoms, grandmothers, aunts, adoptive moms, fur baby moms, and other motherly figures who play important roles in our lives, Mother’s Day is a day to honor their tireless devotion and celebrate the diverse forms of motherhood that shape our lives.
