SUMMER HOME MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST:
- Switch your ceiling fan blade direction to counterclockwise: when it’s warm out, make sure your ceiling fan is spinning counterclockwise to help cool things down with a nice breeze. While you’re at it, check for any wobbly blades—tighten up loose screws and give the blades a quick dust if they need it.
- Clean those refrigerator coils! Dust and pet hair tend to build up underneath, and giving them a quick clean can help your fridge run more efficiently and use less energy.
- Wash windows and check screens: give your windows and tracks a good clean to clear out dust, smoke, and grime from cooking or candles. While you’re at it, check the screens for any damage that might need fixing. Don’t forget to clean the patio door tracks too (if applicable); it’ll help them slide more smoothly.
- Be on the lookout for leaks that could lead to flooding, mold, or water damage. Check for leaks in hoses, under sinks, and around toilets, dishwashers, and washing machines. Fixing a simple leak is always preferable to dealing with a burst pipe or flood cleanup.
- Test Safety Devices: Check smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms, especially if you haven’t since winter. Replace batteries if needed and test each unit to ensure proper function.
- If your home has a security system or smart locks, review your settings and make sure everything is working as expected.
REMINDER: INSPECTION OF ANGLE STOPS AND VALVES:
Maintenance personnel will be conducting inspections of all units to ensure the integrity of angle stops and valves throughout Santee Village.
Inspections will begin with the Eckard building on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Please ensure that maintenance has access to your unit during this time. We appreciate your attention and cooperation in helping prevent future issues.
