HOUSEKEEPING – CLOTHES DRYER SAFETY TIPS:

  • Clean the lint screen/filter before or after drying each load of clothes. If you find that your clothing is still damp at the end of a typical drying cycle or drying requires longer times than normal, this may be a sign that the lint screen or the exhaust duct is blocked.
  • Clean behind the dryer, where lint can build up. Have a qualified service person clean the interior of the dryer chassis periodically to minimize the amount of lint accumulation. Keep the area around the dryer clean and free of clutter.
  • Replace plastic or foil, accordion-type ducting material with rigid or corrugated semi-rigid metal duct. Most manufacturers specify the use of a rigid or corrugated semi-rigid metal duct, this type of duct provides for maximum airflow. The flexible plastic or foil type duct can more easily trap lint and is more susceptible to kinks or crushing, which can greatly reduce or stop airflow.

PET OWNERSHIP REMINDERS:

  • Please pick up after your pet. There has been an increased volume of dog waste found in the common areas. Besides being unsightly, animal waste can be hazardous to your health and your pets’ health. It is important to immediately clean up after your pet.
  • Please be mindful of your neighbors and do not leave your pets unattended on the balcony or patio area. Yelping, whining, or barking/howling for five or more minutes is known as nuisance noise. It can be annoying at any time of day, but it’s especially obnoxious in the early morning hours or late at night.  No one likes to be kept awake by a barking dog, so be sure to tend to your dog’s needs. Be aware that the Association could issue rule violations and/or fines if this kind of activity is reported.
  • Please keep your premises (and your pets) sanitary and free from ticks/fleas, offensive odors,  and human or animal disease.
  • Last but not least, California is one of the states with “strict liability” laws that make pet owners responsible for most dog bites and related injuries. Strict liability means that you are liable for the acts of your dog regardless of whether you knew or should have known that your dog was dangerous. What the dog does, you must pay for. Proper restraint of your dogs will prevent them from harming other animals, people, or property, and from straying and getting lost or injured.
